Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Impacting the world one life at a time

What is the weather like?

The weather is nice all year round. We live on top of a hill, so it is cooler at night with a nice breeze. The city, where we do most of our ministry, is quite warm during the day, but we have coming home at the end of the day to look forward to!

Where would I be staying?

When you come on a missions trip to The Jesus Way Jamaica, you would be staying at our base in Red Hills, St. Andrew.  This is right outside of Kingston and overlooks the city, as well as the Caribbean Sea.

Is it safe to be in Jamaica?

Our first priority is your safety! We have lived here for over 8 years and have experienced only rare minor injuries.

Can I come by myself?

We are happy to accommodate any size group.  We have had teams ranging from one individual to a team of 75.  We have had individuals come for days, weeks, months, and even years.

How long do I have to come for?

We have had people come for a few hours as they were passing through and needed a safe place to overnight, to staying for a year or more.  It is all up to what you feel God is calling you to do.

How close to the beach are you?

We are about 45 minutes from the closest beach, which is on the south shore of the Island.  The north shore does have better beaches, however, and is about 90 minutes away.

What is the Cost of Living?

Since almost all products are imported, the cost of living is fairly high.

What currency do they use in Jamaica ?

The Jamaican Dollar (JMD). The current exchange rate is about US$1-JM$128.

What is the best size and age of a group?

There is no “best” ageany and all are welcome. We are willing to accommodate any size team, but a group of 15-20 is a great size for us.

Are children able to come?  What  is the age range suggested?

We believe God calls families to minister together, so we make every effort to support all ages. The youngest person we had on a missions team was 4 months old, and the oldest was over 90.

List of things to bring?

Personal toiletries, swim-wear and towel, money for souvenirs, insect repellent, Bible, journal, and a heart to serve.

List of things not to bring?

Valuables and weapons of any kind, including fake guns and pocket knives.

What can we bring to help you?

This list changes all the time. If you’re interested, please let us know before you come and we’ll be happy to let you know.

Are there any construction projects that we could help you with ?

Yes; there are always construction projects going on and it is a huge blessing for any assistance, especially if there are people who are professionals that would like to use their gifts in that way on the mission field.

What are you believing for?

We live and breath for God to raise up the youth that are called to take a place in bringing the Kingdom of God through demonstrations of power to Jamaica. We pray revival would break out in their lives so heavily that the entire island comes to a stop because of everything that God is doing in and through them!

How can we partner with you?

  1. Prayersby keeping us in your prayers for wisdom, safety, provision, and team members!
  2. Financiallywe are always open for financial partners who will help fund the mission and vision of the work in Jamaica.
  3. Communicationshare what we are doing here in Jamaica with your friends, co-workers, clubs, family, and church.  Also, let us know how we can stand with you about what you are going through!  We want to build a relationship with you and be there for you as well; that way when we come back to the US we know what is going on with you, and we can pick up in person as the brothers and sisters in Christ we were meant to be.
